Find books and magazines for yourself and your family all in one location. You also might be interested in a book club. Book clubs are a great idea if you or your children are avid readers. Usually book clubs entice you to become a member with a great deal like 5 books for 1.00. Then you need to buy so many books at their regular price. Most book clubs send you books every month or two. If you don't want the book then let them know and they won't send it, or if you forgot to let them know just write "refused, return to sender" on the box and it will be sent back and credited to your account.
Find good kids magazines that will help your child learn and use their imagination. The Second Shift, by Arlie Ru Hochschild. Publisher Comments: Sociologist and Berkeley professor Arlie Hochschild wrote on a woman's "second shift" 15 years ago and discovered women did the majority of childcare and housework even though both parents worked outside of the home. Now she has updated this book and explains the changes that have been made in the past 15 years for women and the "second shift".
The Milk Memos: How Real Moms Learned to Mix Business with Babies-and How You Can, Too, by Cate Colburn-Smith. Amazon.com's product description: "It's one of the most existential moments any woman will face: sitting in a small room tucked away in the bowels of your company, pumping breast milk for a child so close to your heart-yet, at that moment, so far away. The Milk Memos records the voices of mothers who, while struggling with the difficulties of blending their two lives, prove that women don't have to choose between work and family. Their thoughts on how it can be done will inspire women everywhere. This invaluable book weaves the actual Milk Memos journal entries with information-packed sections on such topics of great concern to working moms as:
- finding a private place to pump breast milk at work and establishing a routine that you can maintain despite your busy workday; - establishing the right daycare solution; - getting a decent night's sleep with a new baby so that you can shine (or at least glimmer!) during business hours; and - negotiating flextime, part-time, or a job share with an employer.
The ultimate gift for any new mom who will soon return to work, The Milk Memos is destined to become a classic on the parenting shelf."

A large majority of women work today-but in many cases, it's still up to them to negotiate terms of employment that suit their lifestyles and allow them to meet their kid's needs. This practical volume helps moms get what they need most from the workplace-and find the work that works for them.
The stories found in this heartwarming book are from women who, day in and day out, juggle and balance their careers and their families. Whether it's a busy day at the office, followed by music lessons and baseball practice, preparing dinner, or helping with homework, then snuggling and tucking in the little ones, life for a working mom is a busy one. But it is also an enriching and rewarding life, and the stories shared in this book by working moms will show you that it's not important to be 'Super Mom' all the time, just some of the time!
